Dilapidated fabrics are hubs of socioeconomic and environmental
deficiencies formed as a result of exclusion from the socioeconomic
processes of the city. Land development strategies employed for
intervention in these fabrics are usually influenced by three factors:
intervention objectives, profit margins and owners’ expectations.
These strategies have and proven to be detrimental to the success of
all interventions. This research compares diverse land development
strategies with respect to these three intervention factors and
second-tier factors influencing them. Prevailing processes, areaspecific
conditions and community conditions influence intervention
