Recognizing and using the rotational motion axes of the kinetic facade, including the horizontal, vertical and diagonal axes in different walls of the building, have a great impact on the use of natural daylight. Therefore, their responsiveness to natural lighting in the south, north, east and west windows can be balanced and optimized. The current study examines the use of natural lighting using two kinetic facades with circular and rectangular geometric patterns and diagonal, horizontal, and vertical rotational movement axes in the four north, south, west, and east facades of an office building in Tehran. In order to evaluate daylight reception, dynamic daylight indicators and kinetic façade geometric and kinematic models have been quantitatively studied using Grasshopper simulation tool and Honeybee plugin, Ladybug and Python programming language for averaging. The results of the simulation were analyzed using a comparative method. In this research, firstly, the geometry of the room without shading devices on the four facade was simulated, and then the influence of the movement axes on the two geometrical models of the circle and rectangle of the built samples of the kinetic facade was investigated. According to the available data, the optimal size of the geometric pattern of the circle is 0.18 m and the geometric pattern of the rectangle is 0.5 × 1 m to receive ample natural light from four directions. In comparing the data according to the ASE and UDI less indices of rotational motion axes with circular and rectangular geometric models, the horizontal axis at the top in three façade directions had acceptable values compared to the diagonal axis in the southern direction with ASE<10%. The data of the diagonal movement axis show acceptable values only in two geometrical models in the east and west directions. Comparing these two indicators, the facade with a rectangular geometric pattern has a more optimal response to natural lighting in an office building in Tehran.
