Design process and problem solving methodology is as diverse as the number of designers. Review of these methodologies is useful for both the designer and design research. This paper reports a design process and its critical analysis. The use of music in the design process is explained in a design experience. It is shown that music plays a significant role in the design of a ‘neighborhood unit’. This experienced is then analyzed drawing on personal experience and design theories. This critical analysis then leads to some concluding recommendations for enhancing the design process.
