The Impact of Human Needs and Desires on Architecture

Document Type : مقاله کوتاه

PhD Candidate, Faculty of Architecture, Collage of Fine Arts, University of Tehran

This paper focuses on human needs and desires in relation to architecture. To this end, psychological theories of human needs are reviewed from Maslow onwards, such as those of Alderfer, Levin, Rogers, Rainio and others. A model of human needs and desires is accordingly developed to demonstrate that if architecture holistically responds to these needs, it represents human identity, integrates with human life and represents human existence.
